Call for Papers

Teach. Inspire. Energise.

Our community runs on the energy and generosity of speakers like you. Every talk, whether a hard-won war story, a lessons-learned case study, or a fresh idea, sparks conversations, helps someone get unstuck, and keeps our community alive, energetic and growing.

We especially love hearing from our members. Whether it’s a 5-minute lightning talk or a 30-minute session, we’ll help you every step of the way – topic brainstorming, slides, dry-runs, and feedback. First-time speaker? Perfect.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us – there would be no community without you.

What you’ll gain by speaking

  • Meaningful reach. Share your work with one of the largest AWS user groups in Europe – 10,000+ members and strong event turnouts.
  • Credibility & visibility. Be featured across our event listings and channels, helping your ideas travel further within the AWS ecosystem.
  • Quality feedback. Get thoughtful questions and practical perspectives you can use to refine your approach and your talk.
  • A senior, practitioner-led audience. Our events attract decision-makers and experienced engineers who value real-world stories over sales pitches.
  • Networking that lasts. Meet peers, collaborators, mentors, and potential customers during our post-talk networking.
  • Professional growth. Strengthen your public speaking skills, build your personal brand, and position yourself as a go-to voice on your topic.

If you’ve got a story that can help others build better on AWS, we’d love to hear it – submit your talk and let’s make something great together.

Audience

Our community is very diverse, both in terms of roles and experience. Please specify in the form below the level of audience for your talk.

Type & Duration

We are happy with most types of sessions, however, currently, we do not do hands-on classroom sessions where attendees work on laptops.

  • Presentation – 30mins
  • Lighting Talks – 10mins
  • Code walk-throughs – 30mins

Logistics

Our in-person events are in London, doors opening at 6pm. We tend to have two sessions followed by networking with drinks and nibbles afterwards. Doors close at 9pm

Topics

AWS UG UK

Your talk can be on any AWS topic. We like presentations around use cases where you can tell us how you solved a specific business problem with AWS.

We also accept talks about a problem domain (e.g. Security, Cost Optimisation, etc) – key aspects that our members need to consider, and include future trends if possible.

For the main AWS UG UK group – we’re less keen on pure “how-to” presentations without any business/problem context, but you’re welcome to pitch one of those, too, particularly if you bring a unique take.

AI In Practice

This group is focused on sharing how people are using AI on AWS. Our three key areas (not exclusive) are:

Delivering AI – Deep dives into implementation using AWS services, tools, and best practices, with code, tools, and architectures you can take back to your team.

Impacting with AI – Case studies showing how others are solving tough problems or improving customer experiences.

Building with AI – How engineers integrate AI into daily delivery workflows, from smart tooling and automation to intelligent pipelines.

Keep / Skip

  • A specific use case around AWS: tell us how you solved a particular issue using AWS technologies
  • A neutral opinion about AWS: tell the audience what’s good and what’s bad, mention competitors/alternatives when needed: this is not an AWS event.
  • A customer’s use case; our members love concrete, real-life examples.
  • An AWS (marketing) presentation only highlighting the positives.
  • A sales/marketing presentation: we don’t accept talks selling yourself/your company/services/products.

Finally

We are an independent User Group, so bring a neutral opinion about AWS: you can tell the audience what’s good and bad and mention competitors/alternatives where needed.

We are particularly interested in receiving talk submissions from speakers from underrepresented groups in the tech industry. We are also very interested in talks from our membership. Please let us know if you require additional support or want to discuss your requirements.

Please review our previous talks on meetup and videos on our YouTube channel to ensure that your talk brings something new/different from what we have previously presented.

The talk, with your permission, will be filmed and posted to our YouTube channel.

Please submit your talk

Please submit ONLY one talk per form.
