These Terms & Conditions (“Terms“) govern your use of awsuguk.org and participation in AWS UG UK activities. By using the site or registering for an event, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

2. Using our site

This policy applies to:

  1. You must use the site lawfully and not disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any systems.
  2. We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site without notice.
  3. Third‑party platforms (e.g., Meetup, LinkedIn, YouTube) are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
  4. By using the site, applying to groups, or registering for events, you agree to follow our Code of Conduct.

3. Accounts & eligibility

  1. Certain areas or groups may require registration or application (e.g., invite‑only communities). You must provide accurate information and keep it updated.
  2. We reserve the right to approve, refuse, or revoke access where eligibility criteria are not met or for breach of these Terms.

4. Event terms

  1. Registrations: Some events have limited capacity. Registration does not guarantee entry; we may operate waitlists and ID checks at the venue.
  2. Code of Conduct: By using the site, applying to groups, or attending any event, you agree to follow and uphold our Code of Conduct. Breaches may result in refusal of entry, removal from an event, or suspension from our communities.
  3. Photography & recording: Events may be photographed or recorded. By attending, you acknowledge you may appear in such media used for community promotion. If you prefer not to be featured, please notify an organiser on arrival; we’ll make reasonable efforts to accommodate.
  4. Safety: Follow venue instructions. Do not bring prohibited or dangerous items.
  5. Paid events: Where fees apply, details of pricing, refunds, and cancellations will be provided at checkout or in the event listing.

5. Community content & licence

  1. You remain the owner of any content you submit (talk abstracts, comments, photos). You grant us a worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free licence to host, display and share the content for community purposes (including event promotion and archives). You warrant you have the necessary rights.
  2. We may moderate or remove content that breaches these Terms or applicable law.

6. Intellectual property

  1. All site content (logos, branding, copy, layouts, and recordings) is owned by us or our licensors. Except as permitted by law, you may not copy, modify, or distribute it without permission.
  2. Trademarks of AWS and others are used nominatively. We are an independent community and not affiliated with or endorsed by Amazon Web Services, Inc.

7.  Sponsorships & partner content

  1. Sponsor benefits are subject to separate sponsorship agreements. Sponsor presentations and materials reflect the sponsor’s views. We are not responsible for third‑party claims or representations.
  2. Speaker presentations and materials reflect the Speaker’s views. We are not responsible for third‑party claims or representations.

8. Privacy

9. Disclaimers

The site and events are provided on an “as is” basis without warranties of any kind. Information shared at events or online is for general information only and not professional advice.

10. Limitation of liability

Free services and events: Our site and community events are provided without charge. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for any loss or damage arising out of or in connection with the site or any event, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise.
Non-excludable liabilities: We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded (including your non-excludable consumer rights).
No special or indirect loss: Subject to the above, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, or data.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the UK/EEA may benefit from mandatory local consumer protections.

We may update these Terms occasionally. Changes take effect when posted. If changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice.
